We are excited to announce that Heather Comer, our longtime Lead Youth Facilitator, has been promoted to Program Director at The Rec!
Heather is the heartbeat of our daily operations—running programs, organizing activities,
coordinating with parents, schools, and community partners, and ensuring our volunteers are trained, prepared, and supported.
Beyond her leadership role, Heather is always willing to jump in wherever she’s needed— cleaning, cooking and serving meals, assisting with transportation, and helping keep programs
running smoothly day after day. Most importantly, Heather is a steady, safe, and uplifting presence for our youth. She is a mentor, a role model, and a powerful example of how lives can be changed through compassion and leadership.
We are grateful for everything she brings to The Rec and thrilled to celebrate this well-deserved
promotion.
What the kids at The Rec have to say about Ms. Heather..
“Ms. Heather has shown me that I can be my best self with the help of others around me. She is a great inspiration for the kids and myself, and I am thankful that she is inmy life.”
~Anya Sours, Rec Youth
“Heather’s a testimony that anything’s possible. The transformations she’s made in life to become who she is can be seen as nothing short of a miracle, and every miracle has its purpose. Her life’s experiences, trials, traumas, equip her to know and love these children in a way no one else could. Regardless of their backgrounds, she encourages them that they’re not alone, that she’s been where they are, and they’re going to make it out, because I made it out. Her ability to train and teach each volunteer she oversees, the time and effort put into every activity she creates is amazing. She puts smiles on each child’s face, making their day better, and making the world better!”
